Originally released for T-Mobile in 2004, the RIM BlackBerry 7100 offers complete functionality of a BlackBerry, allowing users to connect wirelessly to send E-mails, make calls and browse the web with ease. The slender model makes this BlackBerry look more like a standard cell phone with its vibrant screen. However, it features a full QWERTY keyboard and offers all the functions of a BlackBerry including e-mail and other business productivity tools. It is also the first BlackBerry to include an IM client to support AOL, Yahoo!, and ICQ.
The small 119 x 59 x 21 mm, 120 g BlackBerry is as aesthetically appealing as it is strong. It is supported by 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 GSM networking to ensure service across the globe and the internal antenna makes this device incredibly sleek and smooth. Navigation is simple with the fully-backlit QWERTY keypad and trackwheel located on the right-hand side of this slender BlackBerry. Among the highlights of this model is its bright and vibrant screen, which makes it look far different from the typical BlackBerry. The large screen supports 65K colors and 240 x 260 pixels, perfect for viewing its wallpapers and screensavers. The device also supports J2ME gaming technology and being bored has never been so fun while playing games on this handheld to keep you occupied.
Additionally, the 7100t supports Bluetooth technology, allowing you to make calls, answer calls and end calls virtually hands-free. Perfect for times when your hands are busy, the 7100t also comes with a built-in speakerphone as well as voice commands to access contacts, dial out and more. Included with the unit is a USB cable which plugs into the right-hand side of the phone to synchronize with your PC and transfer files to and from your BlackBerry. The BlackBerry Browser WAP allows you to surf the web and download new applications to your phone such as new Java games, wallpapers as well as extra 32 chord ring tones to customize your handheld.
The Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino email clients are supported, allowing you to send and receive files in a number of formats including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF files and more. Advanced SMS, EMS and MMS messaging capabilities allow you to send text messages to friends, family and co-workers. The 7100t is also integrated with full T9 text prediction technology to send quick text messages on the fly. Its chat capabilities also allow you to send instant messages back and forth to contacts from wherever you happen to be.
The 7100t is rounded out with a complete organizer which includes a calendar, to-do list, alarm clock and calculator. It can hold up to 32 MB of memory and its 960 mAh Li-ion battery provides up to four hours of talk time and 192 while on standby.
